Applegate Trail Interpretive Center
Experience the colorful history of this rugged area through the stories
of the pioneer settlers, the naming of Grave Creek, the discovery of gold,
the impact of the stage line, and the building of the railroad. Open
Wednesday through Sunday 10am - 5pm (November 15th - March 15th).
Closed Monday and Tuesday. Located 14 Miles North of Grants Pass,

Art In Bloom
The 4th Annual Art in Bloom takes place Mother's Day Weekend, Saturday
and Sunday, May 8-9, 2004 in Medford's Vogel Plaza. Enjoy the fine art of
regional artists in the Rogue Valley's largest juried outdoor art fair.
Musical performances, special exhibits, workshops and children's activities
enhance this springtime celebration, which also includes a wide variety
of floral displays perfect for Mother's day gifts. 541-608-8524

Bear Creek Greenway and Nature Trail
Want to go on a little hike and get some exercise? Take a stroll or hop
on a bike and enjoy the Bear Creek Greenway and Nature Trail.
Get information and pick up a map at the Medford Visitors Center.

Bear Creek Park
One of Medford's many parks, Bear Creek Park has fun play structures,
a wooden fort,bike path and skate park! Located on Highland Drive and
Siskiyou Blvd, near I-5, exit 27. For more information call the Medford

Butte Creek Mill
You can mix fun with education by visiting this historic mill. Nestled
on the banks of Little Butte Creek, the last original operating water-powered
gristmill in the West is fun for all ages. Visitors may watch the miller at work
and find stone ground flours, meals, cereals, mixes and a variety of other
full-of-nutrition foodstuffs and snacks in the mill Country Store. The mill is
listed on the National Historic Register and is open 9 am to 5 pm Monday
through Saturday. Museum, covered bridge and parks nearby all with

Camp White Historical Association and Museum
History comes alive in the military memorabilia displayed at Camp White
Military Museum. The collections include guns, medals, letters, posters,
and historic uniforms. The museum also has a large photo collection of
Camp White's history, currently being collected and preserved. Open

Cole M. Rivers Fish Hatchery
Have your kids ever wondered where fish come from? More than five
million fish are grown at this hatchery annually! A trip to the hatchery
is not only educational, but offers a great picnic spot and lots of scenery.
Located 33 miles northeast of Medford on Hwy 62.

Crater Lake
Crater Lake is a natural wonder that no visitor to Southern Oregon
should miss! Located eighty miles northeast of Medford, it is the deepest
lake in the United States, and Oregon’s only National Park. It features a
lodge and exhibit building at Rim village, narrated lunch trips, Rim Drive
Bus tours, hiking, picnic areas and naturalist programs. 541-878-2235

Crater Rock Museum
For children who are rock hounds, this is a must! The museum contains
earth science specimens of the local area, crystals, gems and jewels,
fossils, geodes, and more. Open Tuesdays, Thursdays,
and Saturdays from 10 am to 4 pm. 541-664-6081

Dogs for the Deaf
The Dogs for the Deaf foundation rescues dogs from shelters and
trains them to act as the eyes and the ears of people who have hearing
complications. At the Dogs for the Deaf Camp, dogs learn to respond
to household sounds such as smoke alarms, doorbells, etc. in order to
assist the daily living of those who are hearing impaired. After 4-6 months
of vigorous training, the dogs are placed nationwide with qualified candidates.
Located 11 miles north of Medford, take I-5 north exit 32. Tour last approximately
1 hour and includes a short video, tour of facility and getting to watch
the dogs "in action". 541-826-9220

Hawthorne Park
One of Medford's many parks, Hawthorne Park is complete with an outdoor
public swimming pool and fun play structures. Grab some "lunch-to-go"
and head to the middle of Medford! For more information contact the

Historic Jacksonville
Jacksonville was the first place gold was discovered in Oregon, and is one
of only eight cities in the United States named as a National Historic
Landmark. There are 8 historic homes and buildings in Jacksonville.
Old time trolley tours, shops, restaurants, the Britt Gardens and
Music Festival and the Jacksonville Museum of Southern Oregon History.

Jackson Park

Medford Jazz Jubilee
October 10, 11 & 12, 2003 - Join us for three fun filled magical days
of fantastic music. Dixieland & Traditional jazz, zydeco, blues & swing
bands play simultaneously at Vogel Plaza. (In addition to Vogel Plaza,
there are 7 additional paid venue locations.) Dancing, wonderful food,

Oregon General Store Museum
Right next door to the Butte Creek Mill and right across the street
from the Eagle Point museum, stands a replica of an American General Store.
It's been built in a historic "cheese factory" of the 1920s. Open 11 am to
4 pm Saturday, during summer months only. 541-826-4166
"Paws, Claws, Scales and Tales" the 2006 Jackson County Library Summer
Reading program offers a wide variety of reading and learning experiences
for children, with free events scheduled throughout the summer that
include musicians, storytellers and movies. Children can earn prizes and
participate in drawings. Registration begins as soon as school is out.

Pear Blossom - Golf Tournament, Run Parade & Street Fair
April 8, 2004 - Pear Blossom Run, Parade & Street Fair - Downtown
Medford. Run: Rogue Valley's #1 Athletic Event, 27th Annual,
4000+ participants, "Everyone's A Winner", Parade, Street Fair,
Barbecue. Mayor's Mile and 2-mile, 5 km and Grand Daddy 10 Miler.

Railroad Park
Take a ride on miniature choo-choos. These free steam train rides are
for kids of all ages and offered by the Southern Oregon Live Steamers.
Open April through October on the 2nd and 4th Sunday. Model trains are
exhibited in a nearby building and the Morse Telegraph Club sends
free telegraph messages to anyone, anywhere. 541-774-2400

Rogue Gallery & Art Center
Enjoy an extraordinary variety of exhibits and educational activities!
The Rogue Gallery & Art Center is truly a home for the arts in the State of Jefferson,
making our region an especially creative place to work and live. Each year the
gallery hosts over 20,000 visitors, provides exhibit space for over 200 artists,
and conducts tours or special hands-on activities for school children,
community organizations and civic groups. Located on Bartlett between

Rogue Valley Growers & Crafters Market
An open-air market featuring fresh, in-season produce; organically grown
vegetables, fruits and herbs; bedding plants and perennials; fresh cut and
dried flowers; baked goods and specialty foods; and locally hand-crafted
items. Located on Stevens Street, Medford Shopping Center, and East

Southern Oregon Historical Society
Exhibits and information for the history buff. Located in downtown Medford.
Pick up a Historic Downtown Walking Tour brochure and take a leisurely
self-guided tour of the historic downtown buildings. Open weekdays 9-5. 541-773-6536

Spirit of the Rogue Nature Center
Nestled along the renowned Rogue River, Spirit of the Rogue Nature Center
sits in the rain shadow of Crater Lake National Park. Home to the osprey,
beaver, mink, otter and myriad waterfowl, the site truly captures the Spirit
of the Rogue! The Visitor Center is open 10 am - 4 pm weekends and holidays
and depicts geology, wild life and natural history of the area. Guided tours may
be scheduled upon request. Located only 45 minutes northeast of Medford.

Vogel Plaza
Kids will have a blast getting wet in the water fountains that beautify
Vogel Plaza. Bring a picnic lunch to eat at the provided park benches and tables,
or rest under a shade tree as you watch the cars and pedestrians pass
